4 of the Most Common Care Services

Brian Callahan • July 30, 2024

Today, many people opt to receive care at home when they can. This helps them enjoy life as much as possible and eliminates the need to head to a facility to receive care. Care services have continued to expand to accommodate this growing need. These are some of today's most common assisted living care services.

1. Overnight Care

According to Elder, 24-hour care and overnight care are usually classified as two different services. It’s crucial to ask a company providing care services what the difference is and make sure you receive overnight care if necessary. It’s common for family members or nurses to pitch in more during the day and invest in care services to come help with family during the night so no one gets burnt out.

2. Companion Care

This type of care is one of the most popular assisted living care services in our experience. Companion care focuses on providing a person with companionship. Companions may take walks together or talk. They offer a unique socialization opportunity to enhance cognitive ability. Many companions can also help with daily tasks, including light housekeeping or running errands. The level of care a companion provides often depends on the company.

3. Home Health Aides

Aides provide a higher level of care than companions. They are often trained to help with various tasks, including personal care. A home health aide can care for people by giving them baths or helping them with nail care. Many aides also perform companionship duties, such as light housekeeping, to help patients. Aides don’t usually run errands or provide other services to patients outside the home.

4. Assisted Living Care

Assisted living care is typically a residential setting where patients receive a higher level of care but are still in a beautiful social environment. Many of these residential facilities organize group activities and encourage patients to socialize. They may have dinners together, community rooms, and other activities residents can enjoy, helping them have a great life while receiving the appropriate level of care.

We understand there are many different types of assisted living care services. Here, we offer everything from companion care to dementia care to ensure your loved one receives the appropriate care for their condition. Contact us at 7 Day Home Care today to learn more.
