HHA & PCA Jobs in Manhattan, NY

Quick answer: Yes — 7 Day Home Care is currently hiring Home Health Aides (HHAs), Personal Care Aides (PCAs) and Companion Caregivers for full-time, part-time, live-in and overnight assignments throughout Manhattan, from the Upper East Side and Upper West Side down to the Financial District. We're a private pay and long-term care insurance agency, so assignments come directly from families and LTC policyholders — not through Medicaid managed care. Apply in person at our Lake Success office, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–2:00 PM, or by appointment at our Manhattan office, 100 Park Avenue, Suite 1600. Call (516) 408-0034 to speak with our recruiting team today.

Open Positions in Manhattan

Home Health Aide (HHA)

New York State-certified HHAs complete a minimum 75-hour, Department of Health-approved training program before working with clients. In Manhattan, HHA duties typically include bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting assistance, safe transfers and mobility support, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping and accompanying clients to medical appointments within the borough. Every HHA works under an individualized care plan developed and supervised by a 7 Day Home Care Registered Nurse.

Personal Care Aide (PCA)

PCAs complete a minimum 40-hour, Department of Health-approved training program. PCA responsibilities center on non-medical activities of daily living — personal care, meal preparation, grocery shopping, light housekeeping and mobility assistance — for clients who don't require the health-related tasks within an HHA's scope of practice.

Companion Caregiver

Companion Caregivers provide conversation, companionship, supervision, meal preparation and errand or appointment assistance for Manhattan clients who are largely independent but benefit from a consistent, trustworthy presence during the day, overnight, or on a live-in basis. Certification requirements vary by assignment.

7 Day Home Care hires caregivers as W-2 employees — not through a registry and not as independent contractors — which means background checks, insurance coverage and Registered Nurse oversight are already in place before you're matched with a client.

Working With a Private Pay & Long-Term Care Insurance Agency

7 Day Home Care works directly with private-pay families and long-term care insurance policyholders — we are not a Medicaid managed care provider. For caregivers, that distinction shapes the day-to-day experience of the job in a few practical ways:

  • Assignments are built around the client's actual needs, not a Medicaid-authorized hour count, so schedules — including live-in and extended-hour cases — tend to reflect what the family has decided to arrange rather than a fixed authorization.
  • Scheduling decisions happen directly between the family, our office and you, without waiting on a managed care plan's approval process.
  • Clients tend to stay with the agency long-term, since private-pay and LTC insurance arrangements are typically set up for sustained, ongoing care rather than short authorization windows.
  • Our office handles the administrative side — billing the family or the long-term care insurance carrier directly — so caregivers can focus on the client rather than paperwork.

Many Manhattan clients pay privately or draw on a long-term care insurance policy they've held for years specifically so they can stay in their own home with consistent, dedicated care — and that's the kind of assignment our caregivers are matched with.

What It's Like Working in Manhattan

Manhattan home care has a few characteristics that set it apart from assignments in the outer boroughs or Long Island:

  • Doorman and elevator buildings are common. Many Manhattan clients live in staffed buildings, so caregivers should be comfortable signing in with building staff and following building-specific visitor procedures.
  • Live-in and extended-hour cases are frequent. Manhattan's density, and families' preference for consistency, lead many to arrange a single live-in or long-shift caregiver rather than a rotating team.
  • Public transit is usually how caregivers get to and from a case. Most Manhattan assignments are reachable by subway (4/5/6, N/Q/R/W, A/C/E, B/D/F/M, 1/2/3 and L lines all serve different parts of the borough) or bus, and many clients are within a short walk of a station.
  • Appointments and errands are part of the day. Because so much of daily life in Manhattan — pharmacies, doctors' offices, physical therapy — happens within a few blocks, caregivers frequently accompany clients on foot rather than by car.

Speak a Second Language? It's an Asset in Manhattan

Manhattan is one of the most linguistically diverse places to work in home care, and many of our Manhattan clients specifically request a caregiver who shares their first language. If you're bilingual, take a look at our language-specific caregiver job pages — you may be exactly who a Manhattan family is looking for:

Speaking a second language isn't required to work with us in Manhattan — we welcome caregivers of every background — but it's a real advantage when it matches what a client is looking for.
